Teal and Coral Container

The organically abstract swathes of teal and coral shades feature on this striking but durable lidded container. Store jewelry, treasures or special foods, or enjoy it as a charming accent for display. 

I used stoneware clay to throw this vessel and lid on a potter’s wheel in one piece. Once the pot was more firm, I carefully indented the pot near the rounded top to form a gallery and cut the piece to create a lid. After firing, I used thickened underglazes with a gelli plate printing technique to decorate the surface. Finally, a clear glaze for the exterior adds a touch of gloss.
