Small Sakura Bowl

Delicate in looks but durable in wear, this bowl is blossoming with sakura buds and could not be more versatile. Fill it with snacks, nuts, candy, jam and condiments for a beautiful serving dish. It's just as handy in the bedroom or bathroom as a catch-all for trinkets, or to hold pot pourri.

This bowl is thrown on the wheel then bisqued in an electric kiln. I painted a branch of cherry blossoms in underglazes on the face of it, and a small branch on the interior rim before firing the bowl a second time. A shiny clear glaze adds functionality and durability.
