Sakura Bud Bowl

Delicate in looks but durable in wear, this bowl is encircled with a hand-painted branch of sakura buds. Enjoy ice cream, strawberries, condiments, salsa, snacks or dips, or use it to cradle treasures and trinkets on a dresser.

This bowl is thrown on the wheel then bisqued in an electric kiln. I painted a connected circle of cherry blossom buds in pink and brown underglazes before firing the bowl a second time. I choose a translucent pink glaze for the interior and a shiny clear glaze for the outside.
