Pansies Medium Bowl

Inspired by springtime pots of pansies, this charming bowl is embellished by hand with an eye-catching ring of cheerful blooms and sprigs around the flared rim. Brighten your kitchen and display as a beautiful accent, or charm your guests with a bounty of mango salsa, an assortment of cookies, fresh strawberries, a mound of whipped cream and more. Plus, it looks equally attractive filled or empty.

This stoneware bowl was thrown on a potter’s wheel. After firing it in an electric kiln, I hand painted each flower and leaf sprig in a repeating pattern using underglazes mixed in custom shades and used a slip-trailer to outline the blooms. The painted pattern gets set with a second firing in the kiln. Finally, I used a glossy translucent medium blue glaze on the exterior for a smooth finish before its final glaze firing.
