Light Blue Carved Container

Organically flowing carvings and a natural stone knob made of white druzy agate give this original piece a serene character. Enjoy it as an eye-catching objet for display or you can even use it for special event entertaining with its food-safe glaze. This unique item makes a truly one-of-a-kind gift.

I used stoneware clay to throw this vessel and lid, and once they were partially dry, I used a technique known as sgraffito to embellish the pieces with carvings. After being fired an electric kiln for the first time, I hand-painted them in a translucent light-blue glaze. Next, they were fired again for a vitrified, durable finish. Finally, to enhance the organic feel of the pot, for a knob, I combined three beads made of white druzy agate.
