To use this butter bell, pack softened butter into the cup attached to the lid. Fill the base with cold water. When the butter-filled lid is inserted into the base, the water creates an airtight seal to prevent butter from spoiling due to exposure to the air.Â
This butter keeper is thrown on the wheel in two parts, with careful measuring to ensure the lid fits into the base. The variegated green glaze is highlighted with energetic splashes of a coordinating blue-green glaze.Â
