Blue Stripe Sugar Bowl and Creamer

A classic ceramic set, this sugar bowl and creamer would look beautiful among your farmhouse kitchen decor, elevate your coffee bar, or add a French provincial flair to an afternoon tea. This attractive duo also makes a great gift for the tea or coffee lover in your life.

I made this items out of a dark red-brown stoneware clay on the wheel. After making the sugar bowl, I added a rim at the lip and carefully measured to ensure the lid nicely nestles on it. The lid is thrown as an upside-down small bowl and trimmed, after which a knob is adhered and shaped while the wheel spins. The creamer has a slab-built handle. The glaze effect is created by dipping each piece just halfway into a rich blue glaze.
