Birch Tree Vase

This vase is constructed from slabs that I dried separately and joined once they were firm. After its first firing in an electric kiln, I painted on black underglaze while retaining the white of the clay to capture a birch forest. The lower third is dipped in a warm earthy tone reminiscent of a humus-rich forest floor. The clear liner glaze in the interior displays some crackles, as seen in the photo, which do not affect the functionality of the vase.
