Translation, Please

This week, I read a couple of emails from e-commerce service providers that left me stymied. It's not an uncommon experience for me since I started running this website. 

Here's the first. It tells me what I must do: "Authenticate and add a DMARC record to continue sending from your domain". Um, sure. Thanks for the what. Now to discover the how. My afternoon just got booked.

 

Another tells me the "new reason preventing your pages from being indexed" is that "Google chose different canonical than user". Okaaay. After a bit of research, I think I know at least what that means.

 

Fortunately, the bulk of my online work is not translating and trouble-shooting these out-of-the-blue techie-talk emails. Instead, it's filling out the "Add product" section of the e-commerce template. That involves things like writing a description, uploading photos and weighing the pottery for shipping purposes. Here's what the back-end looks like:

 

Write, shoot, weigh...that I can do. In addition to tracking down tech talk translations, I can also look up definitions online, like those in Oxford Languages. Here are a couple:

  • Techie: "a person who is expert in or enthusiastic about technology, especially computing."
  • Nerd: "a person who is extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about a particular subject, especially one of specialist or niche interest."

Although I'm learning more, I'll never be a techie. However, I will answer to nerd.
